What our test showed

We ran the model with the style description “indie pop, warm female vocals, acoustic guitar, soft drums, 100 BPM” and a short set of Ukrainian lyrics: one verse and one chorus. Generation took roughly 20–30 seconds, and the tracks came out at about 37–41 seconds long. The model sang the lyrics in Ukrainian, with a warm female voice and acoustic guitar, just as the description asked. The key takeaway: song length depends on how much text you give it. Short lyrics mean a short track; more verses mean a longer song. So we are not promising a specific maximum length here, because it is driven by your material.

Tips: how to write a style description for Suno V6

Lead with genre, mood and tempo

The first words set the character of the track. “Melancholic indie pop” and “energetic indie pop” are two different songs. Name the genre, add a word or two about the emotion and, if it matters, the tempo in BPM. In our test, 100 BPM produced exactly the calm, steady groove we wanted.

Describe the voice separately

Gender, timbre and delivery have a big effect on the result: “warm female vocals”, “raspy male vocals”, “choir backing vocals”. If you do not want a voice at all, do not rely on the word “instrumental” in the description. Just tick Instrumental only.

Give your lyrics a structure

If you write the words yourself, split them into parts: verse, chorus, verse again. A clear structure helps the model understand which part repeats as the hook and which part tells the story. Short lines with an even rhythm sing more naturally than long sentences.

Length comes from the lyrics

Want a longer song? Give it more text: a second verse, a bridge, a repeated chorus. One verse and one chorus produced a track of roughly 40 seconds in our test, which is perfect for a jingle or a short video.

Let the model write the lyrics

No idea for the words? Leave the Lyrics field empty and mention the theme in the style description, for example “song about a summer road trip with friends”. The model will write lyrics in the right mood. This works well for background songs where the atmosphere matters more than the words.

Change one thing at a time

If a result is almost right, do not rewrite everything. Change one detail, such as an instrument, the tempo or the voice, and compare. You will find your sound faster, and with a fixed price of a few cents per track, experimenting stays cheap.
