Editing with reference images
How to attach your own photo, how many references you can add and which formats work.
Many image models work not only with text but with your picture too: change the background, add an object, transfer a style or combine several photos.
How to add a reference
- upload a file from your device or click “Choose from my works” to use a result from your gallery;
- formats: JPG, PNG and WebP, file size up to 10 MB;
- large photos are automatically scaled down to 2048 pixels on the longer side.
Several references
Some models accept several images — the form then shows slots “up to N”. The service accepts no more than 5 images at a time. In your prompt, refer to them as “image 1”, “image 2” so the model knows what to take from where.
Price
With a reference attached, the run button reads “Edit (⚡N)”. For most models the price doesn’t depend on the number of references, but some (for example, GPT Image and Seedream 5 Pro) add a surcharge for every image beyond the first — it shows up in the price on the button right away.
